My
first President’s Message will serve as an introduction for those that
do not know me. I would also like to share some of my goals for NAPE,
and acknowledge some of the people that got us where we are today...
I discovered Engineering in #4 Fire Room of the USS Intrepid: A very hot
and dirty place where I began to learn how to work together with many
people to accomplish necessary results, like keeping the ship moving.
After four years in the Navy, I found myself working maintaining HVAC in
New York City
high rise buildings.
Along the way, I was asked by a vendor if I was a member of NAPE. This
was my start in NY Chapter 1, the largest chapter at that time. I went
through all the Chapter chairs, performed my duties as Region 2 Director
for two terms, and am currently NY Chapter 1 VP. I have made many close
friends in NAPE. Including all the education and social activities
available, I also found employment through my contacts at Chapter 1. It
has been 34 years since I joined, with no end in sight, if I have
anything to say about it.
We
have all we need to make this great organization grow, be stronger, and
reach out to more people. We have a new and proactive team in place at
our National Office. Diane, and Adele, with their energy, and
professionalism, are giving you, the members, more service for less
money! This is a new concept we are trying out. I especially
appreciate all the time and efforts of Barry Battista in guiding our
office team. We are fortunate to have a Board of Directors dedicated to
our continued growth. Special thanks to Mike Morin for setting us on the
path of responsible money management. Your team is in place, ready to
serve.
We
need your help to keep our organization going. If we give members a
reason to come to meetings, they will ask others to join, and we will
grow. If your chapter cannot give education that is wanted, find
something else members will come out for. Your National Board is here to
help, but you have to do the work. This is a “Do it yourself
organization”. Please don’t wait for someone else to do it. Get
involved.
I
would like to thank those few who are doing the most, and Richard Drury,
who asked me to serve as a National Officer.
